New guys third day

Its my third day in my new job and I've seen a mix of good and bad customer service.
Emma has given every customer very good service, but the senior managerT wants to give her the push and she hates him with a real passion.
ManagerR is the second manager and former no1 and hates managerT incredibly.

Frankly everyone needs to do a course in customer care, the only exception being Nick who is some form of Area Manager who is working the shop floor because his position as an AM is in limbo for 8 weeks. He has 15 years experience in this trade.

Alec is a sales rep who I've chatted with about the customer service. Frankly he wants us all to start talking to the customer and pushing stock on them with a few simple words. Its an easy task to say "What are you hiring that for....Whats the project entail....Oh we actually sell XYZ to go with that,,,,we don't hire them because they don't cost very much"
Its simple conversation that leads to a sale, but everyone just says "What are you here for, Oh OK I'll get that for you" and that's the end of the conversation.

New job My Second Day

Well its the end of my second day in my new job and I am quite shocked about the customer service. We had a customer return an item and I was somewhat upset by the way my co-worker talked to him. His first instinct was to blame the customer and say that if he had called the number on the catalogue to report the fault then he would have a note or record about the fault on the 'rented generator' on the system.

My thought was 'Oh My GOD!' he is blaming the customer and making him feel guilty about asking for a refund and this guy will NEVER return to us once he has been given his money back. The manager who authorised the refund forgot to apologise as well, so NO ONE said SORRY! In the managers defense he is fantastic at knowledge of our product range, but I could see him thinking about our achievement target as the customer asked for his refund, and he just assumed that the customer had been given good service before he arrived at the counter. I had the sales rep (who I will be working with once fully trained up on the stock) pull me to one side and ask me what I thought of the situation. I told him the Customer service

was bad, he agreed with me and said he was glad someone else could see it. Later we had a five way discussion about the customer who left, it was two to three about whether he got good service, the others disagreed and frankly need a customer service course before we loose too much.

One other thing is the guy running the delivery vans from the back of the store. Its where the toilets are and he likes to play pranks. First day it was balancing eggs on top of doors so they fell and broke on people. Today it was cups of water.

Being DINKY - Double Income No Kids Yet

Well the job interview results came in.I start a new job next week. Hurrah!!!

SK's first comment was "Great, now I can buy a whole new summer wardrobe".
I haven't even banked my first months wage and shes already worked out how to spend it. Truth is we are both working out how many things we need to replace, such as my phone which has started to cut people off, and the hoover which doesnt like to suck.

I have a mixture of fear and joy at the prospects of this new position. In some ways I know I will do very well out of it, in others respects I am concerned about how my back problem will affect others.

It will be nice to be a DINKY - Double Income No Kids Yet

I think we both need a holiday somewhere nice.....
